Could lab reports and essays count as some weird NaNoWriMo project?
It would have technical terms! Tables and figures! In COLOR!
Think about it:
*dramatic music à la Lord of The Rings*
Two students, young and innocent, with a thirst for knowledge.
Questions to answer, a quest for Truth! ("why are we doing this again?")
Exciting research, experiments ("I mixed this and that and then it went "POOF!""), results, failures, obstacles ("why why why didn't the electrophoresis work?")!
Villains! ("you want me to touch an earthworm???)
Life-shattering revelations, deep and meaningful analysis ("a cockroach and a frog look different!"), wonderfully thought-out conclusions, insightful quotes and a BIBLIOGRAPHY.
THE LAB FILES - do not miss this modern epic.
*random blank voice* Rated PG-13.

"Far Away", from the "Samurai X: Reflection" OAV by Iwasaki Taku. The whole soundtrack is brilliant, brilliant work.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN to everyone!
It's rainy, windy and gloomy here today. How fitting! :D
It's rainy, windy and gloomy here today. How fitting! :D
It was cold, and she was staring at me.
One eye begging, the other saying "I've got all the time in the world".
Curled into a fluffy fur ball, cute little paws over her heart.
Stitch.
Just like the Puss in Boots, but cuter.
And determined.
Freakishly determined.
Staring at me, impassible.
Distracting me from studying. Impossible to ignore such a heavy look.
The message was all too clear:
Have a break. Feed the squirrel.
I value my life, so I complied and got her peanuts (unsalted. Too much salt would be bad for her little body. Hey I DO care about my neighbor the squirrel!). She jumped and DIVED on them.
Stitch showed up with a baby in toe last Spring, we figured she was, indeed, female.

So much that those sparkly "vampires" from Twilight would consider moving here...
I don't seem to be able to say the right thing or even make any sense today...
I really need that "random" tag...

☞ Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper.
☞ Explain in no more than five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
☞ Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!
Not doing a screenshot because I already had the picture uploaded. Here:

This is Andy, an incredibly sweet horse I took care of years ago in Spain. I made a post about him here. Back then he was my best friend and I still dream I'll find him again. I still have the halter and one hair from his tail!

The centipede stroke back, with its long, thin, flailing, disgusting, far too many, repulsive legs.
I need to get myself a boyfriend so he can smash centipedes for me, otherwise it'll turn into:
"OMG CENTIPEDE!"
*jumps on bed*
"KA... ME... HA... ME.... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
*gigantic fireball blows whole neighborhood AND CENTIPEDE up*
Using a sword/katana could be fun too:
"Technique of the OFF! School, the Divine Punishment! WOOOOOOOOOO! " *chops offending bug*
Yes, it took me a while to go to sleep.
EDIT: There are adds in a sidebar on Gmail. One of them today was "Find more sources/options for house centipedes". SOURCES?? REALLY??? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT MORE CENTIPEDES?
I'm so going to volunteer for the first inhabited mission to Mars. I hear it's centipede-free.

I saw the "Director's Cut" edition of the RuroKen OVAs Trust and Betrayal in a store. How different from the original OVAs is it?
I'm told the OVAs were re-edited to make a stand-alone, two-hour movie that they call the "Director's Cut", but did they add something? Formerly deleted scenes, something like that?
I'm fangirling enough over Kenshin to buy it, but I already have the original OVAs and obviously don't want to buy the exact same thing again.
So do you know anything? Any information?
Thanks in advance! :D
The store also has the Delux edition of Conqueror of Shamballa that I couldn't find anywhere when I was looking for the movie... *headdesk*

I've been re-(re-re-re-re-re-... etc)reading Rurouni Kenshin, especially the Tomoe&Enishi arc. It OOZES angst. Lovely, lovely angst.
Now I want a Kenshin. Both in a "mmmmm swordsman" and in a "I shall call you Squishy and you shall be my Squishy" way.
This is mildly disturbing.
So many random posts... I should create a "random" tag...

tecsomane, my very best friend in the worldwide world, will you beta for me? o:-D
Also, created an "emergency drawer". No, there isn't canned food or candles or anything like that in it (although winter is barely 2-3 months away! D:). There is CHOCOLATE. All the good chocolate that's ridiculously expensive and that I buy only when it's on sale. Four chocolate bars and one box of biscuits so far. BRING IT, LIFE! NOW I CAN FACE ANYTHING YOU THROW AT ME!
Then. Horseback riding lesson on Thursday evening. Western style, which I've never done before. I figured that since I haven't ridden in four years and have to go back to basics anyway, I may as well learn something new. The barn could use a new coat of paint but the horses look good, which is what matters. We'll see how that goes.
Classes start in a week! I'm taking Bioethics (this one's obligatory), Immunology, Animal Physiology and Evolutionary Genetics (not sure about the translation here). The term should be interesting.

Another movie to look forward to!
I went to see "Ponyo", Hayao Miyasaki's latest film, yesterday night.
The story is loosely based on "The Little Mermaid": Ponyo is a very cute little red fish who meets five years old Sosuke (I love that it was still pronounced "Soske" in French, like it should be!) and wants to become human so she can be with him. **SPOILERS** Chaos ensues. Literally. **NO MORE SPOILERS**
The first word that comes to mind is "beautiful". What else can I say? It's by Miyasaki. Of course it's beautiful. Beautiful animation, beautiful backgrounds, beautiful music (by Joe Hisaichi, as usual)... Beautiful.
It's more of a kids movie than even "Howl's Moving Castle" was, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining for grown-ups. The two main characters are Cute (with capital C. They're that cute) and the others are all very amusing (Sosuke's mother, the old women she takes care of and Fujimoto, a man/wizard disgusted by the human world who decided to live at the bottom of the ocean).
Need I say more? It's by Miyasaki! Go see it! :D

The awesome epicness (epic awesomness?) of episode 19 of FMA: Brotherhood was a perfect way to end three very good days.
Lemme 'splain.
Thanks to my internship (that went very well, by the way. We got interesting results) and to still living with my parents, I was able to attend Anticipation 2009, this year's science fiction World Convention. I was meeting a friend there, and a lot of HER friends, which means there were lots of chatting and laughing in between panels.
So. Anticipation 2009. I'll make a proper post later but for the time being I'll remember that:
- Geeks are cool, no matter what my brother says.
- So cool in fact that I'm creating a "geekitude" tag, just for the occasion.
-It's a shame Neil Gaiman isn't 25 years younger.
- Attending the Hugo Award ceremony can be bad for your hands (it turns into two hours of almost endless claping if you're not careful. Aouch.).
- One can actually make some exercise while attending the Con: miles and miles to walk between panels.
- So many books to read and so little time to read them.
- Don't forget to drink, eat and sleep (and another thing... DON'T PANIC!).
Everything else, including Hugo Award winners, can be found here.
If I got a dollar every time I use the word "stuff" in the title of posts, I'd be rich.
No, wait. I'd rather get good chocolate. mmmmmmm chocolate. o:-)

Green and mountains. Calm and relaxing, just what I need. ^^
The other stuff:
The International Jazz Festival of Montreal started yesterday. It lasts two weeks, with artists from all over the world. About half of the shows are for free, on outside stages, and those aren't just for unknown artists.
Take the opening show yesterday night, for example. Stevie Wonder was performing. Outside, for free, in front of 100,000 people (I guess. There were SO MANY people in the streets!). We couldn't get close enough to the stage to take pictures (even the big screens looked teeny tiny from where we were), but we could still hear perfectly and it was GREAT. Good music, lots of energy, even the lightening of the stage was well-done and it stopped raining just before the show was scheduled to begin. Yay!
The last show of the festival (again, for free and oustide so everyone can come) will be Ben Harper. *will bring binoculars*
